Prawn rice

This is a south Indian dish which I learnt to prepare from my sister. A very easy recipe to prepare and children love it.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time : 30 minutes

Serves : 3

Ingredients:

For marinating prawn:

  1. 750 grams of prawn
  2. 1/2 tablespoon of chilly powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  4. juice of half a lime
  5. salt to taste

For rice:

  1. 2 and 1/2 cup of rice
  2. 5 cups (double the amount of rice) of coconut milk
  3. whole garam masala
  4. slices of 1/2 onion
  5. coriander leaves to garnish

METHOD :

Step 1 : Marinate the prawns with the ingredients mentioned. Boil the prawns with a little water. Cook until the prawns are done and the water is dried up. Add a little oil and stir fry for 2 minutes. Keep it aside.

Step 2: To prepare rice :- Add 2-3 tablespoon of ghee to a pan. saute onion until it becomes transparent.Add whole garam masala.

 Step 3 : Pour in coconut milk and bring it to boil.

Step  4: Add rice and salt.

Step 5:Once the rice is cooked, add fried prawns.

Step 6: Mix it well .Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
