Coin Parota

Coin Parota is a layered flaky bread that has the shape of a coin. It is a delicacy from south Indian state of Karnataka. It is also one of the famous street food. coin parota and Chicken Butter Masala make an awesome combination

Preparation time : 2 hours +30 minutes

Cooking time : 15 minutes.

Makes – 6-7 parota

Ingredients :

  1. Maida / all-purpose flour – 2 cups
  2. egg – 1
  3. sugar – 1 teaspoon
  4. milk – 1 tablespoon
  5. oil
  6. water , salt

Method :
Step 1 : In a large mixing bowl , take the maida. Break open an egg. Add sugar, milk and salt. Mix it well. Now add water gradually to knead it into a soft dough . Knead for about 7-10 minutes. Drizzle a tablespoon of oil. Close the bowl with a lid and let it rest for 2 hours.

Now make 6-7 balls and let it sit for another 10-20 minutes.

Step 2 : Grease the working surface area with oil. Take a dough ball and roll it into a paratha as thin as possible.

Step 3 : Fold both the sides inward

Step 4 : Start pleating and rolling the dough ( just like a swiss roll).

Step 5 : Secure the end by pressing gently. Try to incorporate some air bubbles while rolling. Repeat steps 2,3 and 4 for all the remaining balls.

 


Step 6 : Now fry it on a heated pan until both the sides turn nice and golden .Keep drizzling oil generously.
