Matar / Peas Pulao is a one pot rice dish made with matar ,rice along with some spices.It is a mildly flavored rice which can be served with curd, onion raita, pickle ,pappad etc. You may also add in veggies like potato or carrot along with matar.

Matar Pulao :-
Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cook Time : 15 minutes
- Basmati rice – 1 cup
- Peas / matar – 3/4 cup
- onion – 1 medium (sliced)
- cinnamon – 1 inch
- cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- cardomom – 2
- clove – 2
- bay leaf – 1
- ghee – 3 tablespoon
Step 1 : Wash the rice very well. Soak it for 30 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
Step 2 : Heat ghee in a thick bottomed pan. Add all the whole spices and saute till aroma comes. Then add sliced onion and saute till it turns golden / deep brown. (be careful not to burn the onions)
Step 3 : Add the peas / matar and saute again.
Step 4 : Now add the rice and stir gently for a minute. Add 2 cups of water (double the amount of rice) and salt.
Step 5 : Stir well. Cover and cook until all the water is dried up.
Switch off the flame. Give a gentle stir and serve it with curd or onion raita or pickle and pappad.
