Tomato Fish Curry

Tomato fish curry is a spicy tangy gravy which is very simple and can be prepared in no time. Tomatoes and spices are blend together ; which is then used to make the gravy . small onions (shallots or cheriya ulli ) is used which imparts a unique flavor. Finally, coconut milk is poured to make the gravy thick. You can increase the amount of chilly powder according to your spice requirements. It goes well with rice ,idli, dosa etc.

Tomato Fish Curry :-

Ingredients:

  1. Fish (any) – 1/2 kg
  2. small onion (shallots) – 8
  3. ginger (chopped) – 2 teaspoon
  4. Tomato – 2 big
  5. red chilli powder – 2 teaspoon
  6. coriander powder – 2 teaspoon
  7. turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  8. fennel powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  9. jeera powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  10. curry leaves – a few
  11. coconut milk – 1/2 – 1 cup
  12. oil
  13. salt

Method :

Step 1 : Cut and clean the fish of your choice very well. Keep it aside.

Step 2 : Take tomatoes , red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and jeera powder in a blender and blend it to a fine paste without adding water.

Step 3 : Heat 2-3 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Saute finely chopped small onions (cheriya ulli) and ginger until onions turn translucent and raw smell of ginger disappears .

Step 4 : To this, add tomato – spices paste. Saute till oil appears . Add fennel powder. Saute and add 1 cup of water.

Step 5 : When it starts boiling, add fish, curry leaves and salt. Cover and cook till the fish is done. Add coconut milk . Once it boils, switch off the flame.

Tomato Fish Curry is ready!!!
