Russian Salad

Russian Salad is an easy and healthy accompaniment to your main course. The salad is a good fusion of fruits, veggies and mayonnaise or garlic paste.  Pair this salad with a bowl of soup for a simple meal or include it as a starter on your party menu!

Russian Salad :-

Ingredients :

  1. apple – 1/2
  2. carrot – 1/2
  3. anar / pomegranate  – 1/2 cup
  4. green grapes – 10
  5. cucumber – 1/2 deseeded
  6. pineapple – 3 slices
  7. potato – 1/2 medium
  8. lemon – 2-3 tablespoon
  9. sugar – 2 teaspoon
  10. garlic – 3 pods
  11. vinegar – 1 tablespoon
  12. egg – 1
  13. sunflower oil – approx 1/4 cup
  14. salt

Method :

To Make Mayonnaise / Garlic paste : – 

  • Transfer  garlic , egg, vinegar and salt to a small blender / grinder . Now blend / grind it by gradually pouring sunflower oil (any vegetable oil can be used) until you get the required consistency of the garlic paste. (it should be semi thick, cream-like texture).

Preparation :-

  • Peel off the skin of apple , carrot and cucumber . Cut it into fine pieces.Also cut the grapes .
  • Boil pineapple pieces with 2 teaspoon sugar and 1/4 cup water. Drain and keep it aside
  • Boil and mash the potatoes .
  • In a medium sized mixing bowl, transfer the garlic paste and mashed potato. Combine very well.

To make Russian Salad :-

  • Take a large salad bowl. Add pieces of apple, carrot, grape and pomegranate. Season it with lemon and salt. Then add pieces of cucumber and pineapple.
  • Add the garlic paste- mashed potato mixture to the salad bowl. Add 2 teaspoon sugar. Check for salt. Combine everything very well and serve !
