Chana masala

Chick pea / Chana seeds are high in protein and it has wide range of health benefits. Another advantage of chana masala is that it goes very well with dosa, poori , batoora , rice etc. That means you cook it and have it for all the 3 meals of the day ; thus saving your time.

Preparation time :  need to soak chana overnight

Cooking time : 20 minutes

Serves – 4

Ingredients :

  1. Chana / chick pea – 1/2 cup
  2. onions – 4 chopped
  3. Tomato – 1 chopped
  4. ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
  5. Chilly powder – 2 teaspoon
  6. coriander powder – 1  teaspoon
  7. turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Garam masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  9. yoghurt – 1/2 cup
  10. jeera seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method :

Step 1:Cook the chick pea in a cooker with little turmeric and salt for 7-8 whistles.

Step 2:Heat oil . put jeera seeds. Saute onions until it turns brown. Add ginger garlic paste and tomato. saute well.

Step 3: Add chilly powder , coriander powder , turmeric powder and garam masala powder . When it is well mixed, Add yoghurt . Combine well.

Step 4: Add cooked Chana.Let it boil. Garnish with coriander leaves.
