It is a sweet oat bar. These kind of energy bars are easily available in any store ; but isn’t it better to munch on the homemade bars? It is a perfect energy bar to have immediately after workouts. It can be your breakfast or a snack.
Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Ingredients :
- Oats – 1 and 1/2 cup
- Almonds – 1 cup (finely chopped)
- dates (pitted) – 1 heaping cup
- peanut butter – 1/4 cup
- Honey – 1/4
Method :
Step 1 : Toast oats and almonds in an oven at 350 degrees F (176 C) for 10-15 minutes or until slightly golden colour.
Step 2 : Process the pitted dates in a food processor for about a minute or until it is rolled into a ball.
Step 3: Put oats, almonds and dates in a large mixing bowl.
Step 4: Heat honey and peanut butter in a saucepan in low flame until it gets warm. Pour it over oat mixture and combine well, breaking apart the dates.
Step 5 : Once thoroughly combined, pour it into a baking dish lined with a wax paper (so that the bars can be easily lifted up)
Step 6: Again cover on top with a wax paper .Press down firmly until flattened uniformly. (you may use a drinking glass to press down and pack the bars properly). Refrigerate it for 15-20 minutes to firm up really well.
Step 7 : Cut the bars into small -required sizes and store it in an air-tight container.
