Paneer Bhurji

Paneer Bhurji is a famous , delicious North Indian breakfast dish made using crumbled paneer / cottage cheese . It is a simple and quick recipe. It is also found in road side eateries.

Preparation time : 10 minutes

Cooking time : 15 minutes


1. Paneer cubes – 200gms

2. Onions – 2 medium (chopped)

3. Tomato – 2 medium (chopped)

4. Ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon

5. Kashmiri red chilly powder – 1 teaspoon

6. Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon

7. Garam masala powder – 1/4 teaspoon

8. Coriander leaves – to garnish

9. Salt, oil


Step 1: crumble the paneer cubes with hand. Keep it aside

Step 2: Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions. Saute until it turns translucent. Then add ginger-garlic paste. Saute until the raw smell disappears. Add tomatoes. Saute well and cook until tomatoes turn soft.

Step 3: Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Combine very well.

Step 4 : Add crumbled paneer cubes and salt. Stir it well. let it cook for a couple of minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves. Switch off the flame.

Serve it hot with bread toast , parathas , Rumali Roti or as Sandwich. Ideal for kids lunch box too 🙂

Note : Green chillies can be added for extra spice requirements . Do not cook paneer for long time as it tends to get harder.
