Potato-Capsicum Masala

Potato-Capsicum masala is an easy – spicy recipe . This goes well with roti , dosa, rice etc.

Preparation time : 10 minutes

Cooking time : 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  1. potatoes – 4 (medium)
  2. garlic cloves – 4 cloves (chopped)
  3. Onion – 2( chopped) + 1 (sliced)
  4. Lemon – 1 tablespoon
  5. Capsicum (green) – 1 (large)
  6. Red Chilly powder – 2 teaspoon
  7. Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Ketchup – 1.5 tablespoon
  9. Butter – 2 tablespoon
  10. cream – 3/4 tablespoon
  11. pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  12. salt

Method :

Step 1:  Peel the potatoes and cut into cubes. Mix it with pepper, salt and lemon juice. Set aside.

 Step 2 : Meanwhile,heat butter in a pressure cooker and saute garlic. Then add chopped onions . saute until it turns soft. then add capsicum. saute for a couple of minutes  on medium flame.

 Step 3 : Add potato cubes. Combine well.

 Step 4 : Add red chilly powder and turmeric powder. Check for salt.mix it well. Add a little water (less than 1/4 cup).Close the cooker and cook for 1 whistle . Switch off the flame. Let the pressure settle.

 Step 5 : open the lid, Switch on the gas. Add ketchup and cook till potatoes are cooked.

Step 6: Deep fry sliced onions until golden brown (as that of biryani) in a kadai. Add this to the above. Stir well.

Step 7: Finally, Add the cream. Mix well. Switch off the flame.
