Here is the recipe for Home made vegetable pizza. The flat bread made using all purpose flour, fermented using yeast for couple of hours, topped with pizza sauce, veggies of your choice and cheese. Pizza can be a good option for lunch dinner and snack time too.
Preparation time : 2 hours +10 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Serves : 2 pizzas
Ingredients :
For Pizza dough:
Water – 1/2 cup, warm
Sugar – 1 teaspoon
Yeast – 1 teaspoon
All purpose flour/Maida – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Olive oil – 2 tablespoon
Water – as required to knead
For toppings :
PIzza sauce – 4 tablespoons ( Replace it with 2 tablespoons each of ketchup and mayonnaise )
Bell peppers – 1/4th of each red, yellow, green , thinly sliced
Onion- 1 medium, thinly sliced/ roughly chopped
Mushrooms – 6 , thinly sliced ( toss it with salt & pepper if you like)
Black olives – few
Mozzarella cheese – as per your wish, grated
Oregano/ italian seasoning – 1/2 teaspoon
Chilli flakes – 1/2 teaspoon
Method :
For preparing the pizza base dough :
In a large bowl, take luke warm water, add sugar and yeast, mix well and leave it for 5 minutes.
Then add all purpose flour, salt, 1 tablespoon oil and knead the dough adding water as required.
At the end add 1 tablespoon olive oil and form a ball. Cover and rest the dough for 2 hours in a warm place. After two hours, dough will be fermented and doubles in size. Punch down the dough. Divide in half to make 2 pizzas.
For baking :
Preheat the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile keep the dough on a dusted pizza pan, baking pan. Flatten the dough evenly with hand on the pizza pan. or roll them using the chapati roller and then place it over the pizza pan.
Prick the pizza base all over except the sides , using the fork. Then spread the pizza sauce on the base. You can also use ketchup and mayonnaise instead of pizza sauce. Then place the veggies on top. Spread the grated cheese on top. Sprinkle oregano and chilly flakes.
Bake it in oven for 15 minutes.
Enjoy the veg pizza with your loved ones.
You can also cook pizza in tawa. Switch on the flame in medium heat . Keep tawa and close the lid and preheat for 5 minutes. Then place the veg topped pizza on the tawa and cover. Cook till cheese melts very well.
